Atrajo a m\u00e1s de mil personas en torno a un concierto infantil a cargo de <em>Yo Soy Rat\u00f3n<\/em>, una Feria de Productores Artesanos y Sostenibles, un taller familiar de Percusi\u00f3n con Calabazas y el tradicional Intercambio de Semillas al que acudieron Huertos Urbanos y ciudadan\u00eda para conseguir nuevas variedades de cultivo bien adaptadas a este clima. Por gentileza de la Asociaci\u00f3n Plantamos \u00c1rboles y el Vivero de Estufas del Retiro se repartieron m\u00e1s de mil trescientos arbolitos y m\u00e1s de setecientas plantas ornamentales. Todo ello en torno a un elemento com\u00fan: La Calabaza. \u201cFelicitas\u201d del <em>Huerto Los \u00c1ngeles<\/em> con un peso total de 46 kilos perteneciente a la variedad Atlantic Giant.\u00a0 Esta variedad de calabazas gigantes produce las calabazas m\u00e1s grandes de toda la familia, pudiendo alcanzar f\u00e1cilmente los 200 Kg si no se le deja m\u00e1s que un fruto por planta. Su pulpa naranja tiene un sabor excelente y su cultivo precisa terrenos profundos y ricos en nutrientes.<\/p>\n<p>En la categor\u00eda de calabazas m\u00e1s originales y raras, la ganadora por votaci\u00f3n popular\u00a0 pertenece al huerto particular de Don Jes\u00fas en Rillo de Gallo en Guadalajara, es de una variedad ornamental llamada\u00a0 \u201cCoronada\u201d de la especie <em>Cucurbita pepo<\/em>. Se cree que se cultivaron por primera vez hace m\u00e1s de 10,000 a\u00f1os en Am\u00e9rica, espec\u00edficamente en M\u00e9xico, Am\u00e9rica Central y Am\u00e9rica del Sur. En algunas culturas ind\u00edgenas, las calabazas eran utilizadas como alimentos, utensilios y herramientas.<\/p>\n<p>Su uso en la cocina est\u00e1 ampliamente extendido, pero pocas personas saben que, aunque se concina como una verdura, en realidad, a nivel bot\u00e1nico se consideran una fruta. No solo se consumen en forma de pur\u00e9 y sopas, tambi\u00e9n se utilizan en aceite, harina y jugo. Adem\u00e1s, sus semillas est\u00e1n consideradas un s\u00faper alimento, ya que son ricas en magnesio, zinc, antioxidantes y prote\u00ednas, mejorando la salud del coraz\u00f3n, la funci\u00f3n inmunol\u00f3gica y favoreciendo la digesti\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>La calabaza es todo un s\u00edmbolo de Halloween. La tradici\u00f3n de tallar calabazas, conocida como <em>Jack-o&#8217;-lantern<\/em>, tiene su origen en las leyendas irlandesas. Se cuenta que un hombre llamado Stingy Jack enga\u00f1\u00f3 al diablo, y como castigo, su alma fue condenada a vagar en la oscuridad con una linterna hecha de un nabo hueco y una brasa ardiendo dentro. Es importante conocer que requiere mucho espacio para expandirse. La calabaza m\u00e1s grande jam\u00e1s registrada pesaba 1,226 kg y fue cultivada en Italia en 2021 por el agricultor Stefano Cutrupi.<\/p>\n<p>De alguna manera, se puede decir que es un arte cultivar calabazas en todo su esplendor, aprovechando la enorme diversidad que existe y adaptadas a las condiciones de cada regi\u00f3n. Esta exposici\u00f3n es una bonita muestra de lo biodiverso que este cultivo. No os perd\u00e1is la oportunidad de disfrutar esta colecci\u00f3n de calabazas, descubrir\u00e1s una variedad de formas, colores y tama\u00f1os que no te dejar\u00e1 indiferente.<\/p>\n<p>La exposici\u00f3n se completa con un surtido de planta de interior cedida por el <a href=\"https:\/\/www.madrid.es\/portales\/munimadrid\/es\/Inicio\/El-Ayuntamiento\/Parques-y-jardines\/Patrimonio-Verde\/Parques-en-Madrid\/Vivero-Estufas-de-El-Retiro\/?vgnextfmt=default&amp;vgnextoid=00be21c051f2f210VgnVCM2000000c205a0aRCRD&amp;vgnextchannel=38bb1914e7d4e210VgnVCM1000000b205a0aRCRD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vivero de Estufas del Retiro<\/a> que ha participado eligiendo especies y variedades \u00f3ptimas para la instalaci\u00f3n. Desde este Vivero se organiza la Unidad de Adornos y de Planta de Interior que decora interiores y exteriores de actos p\u00fablicos de Madrid.<\/p>\n<p>La exposici\u00f3n estar\u00e1 visitable en la
